Hymenoplasty involves little risk since it is a simple surgery. The surgery is ideally performed at the end of the menstruation cycle. Thus, the hymen is completely healed before the following menstruation. Infection and bleeding from the surgical site are the main risks. Although it is rare, if an infection occurs, the sutures could unstitch. This could require a reoperation. Your surgeon will carefully explain the surgery to you during your meeting and explain in depth any risks that are associated with the procedure.
